can anyone recommend what size drill bit to use to core through the wooden base i'm going to use for lamp kit 8

The Brass wood nipple measures 9.5mm on the thread and as this is a course thread I guess a 8.5mm bit then wind the nipple into that. Best to do a test drill first if you can. The flex diameter is less than 6mm so if the 8.5mm is good for the nipple use that size for the complete length.
